Every Brand Needs A Face

Every brand needs a Face 🦊 And we’ve tried a few, as our long-term fans will tell you!

In early 2019 we began the hunt for an illustrator who could transform our vision of a modern and unique graphic identity into a reality. Critically, we wanted a brand face that wouldn’t be confused with our founder Guy Quirynen (even founders deserve some privacy!).

In April we met Bert Dries, better known by his creative alter-ego Musketon.

We worked collaboratively, spending full days in Ghent's Vooruit café co-working on every element to ensure that Umamido's look and feel matched our 'Honest Ramen' promise. In just a few short months Bert, and his colleague Gert van Goethem (aka ‘Dirty Belgium’), developed our full graphic identity: new typography, retro indigo/orange colour palette, beer and wine labels, team uniforms, and last but not least – our ramen chef fox logo.

We are beyond proud of the work we’ve accomplished with Musketon as our branding partner, and can’t wait to show you the exciting things we have in the books for 2020 ⚡️
